This song is very special to me. Sometime during my college years, my piano teacher - Vadim Neselovskyi - asked me to compose a new piece “with meaning”. Something that is based on an emotion, on feeling, rather than a “cool chord progression” or a theoretical concept. It was fall in beautiful New England, “Indian summer”, so I composed a piece for piano and Erhu - the classical Chinese string intrument - and called it “Yellow”.

A little while later I wrote a poem and magically, it kind of worked with parts of “Yellow”. After some adjustment, a new version of Yellow was born and I started to see myself more and more as a singer-songwriter and not “merely” a pianist.

Sometime later, we recorded it with a stellar band at the legendary Wellspring Studio outside of Boston and ever since then, Yellow remains part of my repertoire and has been released as part of my first EP.
